Marine surveys, inspections and certificates · IME

Warranty, flag State, OVID and shipyard inspections

IME reviews high-risk operations before they start, inspects vessels for flag administrations, offshore operators and owners, supervises repairs in the shipyard, and puts a marine engineer or naval architect on the client's side for a repair, a dispute or a project.

Where we attend

Each office attends the ports of its region 24 hours a day, and appointed surveyors attend the ports between them. Choose the port to see who attends.

Service

When you need it

  1. 01

    A critical operation is scheduled

A tow, a heavy lift, a load-out or an offshore operation: the insurer needs it reviewed and approved before it covers the risk.

  2. 02

The flag asks for an inspection

Or the owner prepares the vessel before port State control, or has a record of deficiencies to clear.

  3. 03

    An offshore unit is vetted

The operator or the charterer orders an OVID inspection.

  4. 04

The vessel goes into the shipyard

For a planned repair or after a casualty, the owner or the insurer needs the work supervised and the invoices reviewed.

The inspections

01

Marine warranty surveys

Independent third-party review and approval of high-value and high-risk marine construction and transport operations: towage and voyage approval, vessel suitability and condition, load-out, stowage, lifting and securing of cargo, mooring, multimodal transport, lay-up and reactivation, and fire precautions and firefighting arrangements.

02

Flag State inspections

Inspections for the flag administrations that authorise IME to carry them out, and preparation for port State control.

03

OVID and offshore vessel inspections

Inspection of offshore vessels for the operators and charterers that vet them.

04

Shipyard and repair supervision

Repairs supervised in the shipyard, repair specifications and invoices reviewed, and lay-up and reactivation surveys.

05

Technical consultancy and representation

A marine engineer or naval architect on the client's side for a repair, a dispute or a project.
