Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM)
IME identifies and documents the hazardous materials on board a vessel for the Hong Kong Convention and the EU Ship Recycling Regulation. The inventory is prepared by HazMat specialists with reference to the relevant IMO guidance and the EU ship recycling framework.

When you need it
- 01
The Hong Kong Convention applies to the vessel
In force since 26 June 2025: existing vessels of 500 GT or more need an approved and certified inventory by 26 June 2030.
- 02
The vessel calls at a port of the European Union
Under the EU Ship Recycling Regulation, vessels under a non-EU flag calling there carry an inventory.
- 03
The vessel is going to be recycled
The inventory is the basis on which the recycling yard plans the work.
- 04
The inventory has to be kept up to date
Every new item fitted on board, and every renewal survey, means the inventory is maintained.
What the inventory covers
